Vampire Nests
Basic Information
They are individuals afflicted with the disease Sanguinare Vampiris. The disease causes drastic physical and biological changes that are permanent if not cured within three days. Among these changes include a heightened vulnerability to sunlight and fire and an increased resistance to frost. All benefits and inhibitions are sustained by the consumption of blood.
Vampires can be of any race but the majority of them are easily distinguishable from uninfected persons. As a result of the hemophiliac virus, Sanguinare Vampiris, the infected slowly grow a pallid complexion. Fangs protrude from their gums, allowing for easier feeding and eye color changes from the spectrum of average hues to red. Bosmer and Dunmer, which typically already possess red eyes, may pass unnoticed as vampires.
When infected, the fur of the Khajiit alters as the skin of a human or elf would. Long-toothed by nature, the incisors of the Khajiit grow exceptionally long, so that they protrude below the lip. However, their pupils become thinner and more blade-like. The scales of Argonians grows greyer as the infection worsens.
Vampires can be traced back to the Daedric Prince Molag Bal, the Lord of Domination, who created the first vampire sometime around the First Era. Lamae Beolfag was a Nedic virgin who was raped by Molag Bal. It is recorded that after the ordeal, Molag Bal shed a droplet of blood on her brow and left her to die. During the night she died, but as her funeral pyre was still burning she emerged as the first pure-blood vampire.
BECOMING A VAMPIRE
Sanguinare Vampiris is the disease that eventually culminates in vampirism and is typically contracted when attacked by a vampire, either with physical attacks or being subject to their Vampiric Drain spell. If one is attacked by Vampiric Drain, there is 10% chance of infection.
If the disease has not been cured (via a Cure Disease potion or praying at a shrine) within three days, the infection mutates into full vampirism, causing a series of maladaptive and beneficial traits to emerge in the subject. Drinking blood can stay the infection and lessen the deficits of the disease.
Drinking from the bloodspring in Redwater Den also allows the disease to be contracted.
A Daughter of Coldharbour is a female individual who is granted vampirism via a ritual with the creator and patron deity of Vampires, Molag Bal. The origin of the term refers to the plane of Oblivion that Molag Bal lords over, Coldharbour. Since Lamae, a tradition developed among Molag Bal worshipping cults which dictated that females be offered to him on the 20th of Evening Star, his summoning day. Few survive the ordeal and those who do emerge as pure-blooded vampires. Being selected as an offering was considered to be an honor that was not rejected lightly.
When facing off against vampires, Niitari will be using dice rolls to determine wether or not you contract the disease or not. Dawnguard members will have a lesser chance of becoming vampires as they take certain precautions to protect themselves. Argonians have higher resistance to disease and are therefore harder to change. Lycanthropes cannot become vampires unless they "cure" their lycanthropy. If you contract the disease, you have three days to be cured. Failing to cure yourself results in becoming a vampire.

Sub-Types
VAMPIRE THRALL
Vampire thralls are beings that are forcibly under the control of a vampire, and thus possess no free will of their own. They will attack any person or creature, which isn't of the same kind or a vampire. They are created using a vampire's seduction ability. Under the seduction, they are in a state of full submission. However, this only lasts about a day. To become a permanent thrall, they must be enslaved by a high level vampire. Upon request, the vampire can enslave the Thrall to the Thrall's initial creator. Anyone that is Vampire level or higher can make Vampire Thralls, but only those that are Mistwalker level or higher can make permanent ones.
VAMPIRE FLEDGLING
Vampire Fledglings are the most basic type of vampiric creatures. They have just been created, and are the weakest of their kind as they are still learning their abilities and their way about the world. They spread Sanguinare Vampiris easily. One can usually be found wherever there are other vampires.

Requirements
1. Your character must be affected by the sunlight. The less often they drink blood, the more affected they will be.
2. Your character must seek out prey. Do not just type "he went off and drank blood and left". Actually roleplay something out. But do be cautious: if you are caught, there will be consequences.
3. You will spread your disease whether you want to or not. You will be hunted and attacked by the Dawnguard, even if you were a part of the Dawnguard. You will most likely be shunned from cities and attacked by guards.
4. You must reject lycanthropy before becoming a vampire.
5. You cannot decide to become a vampire in game. You either create a vampire character off the bat, or you will potentially contract vampirism during gameplay.
6. You are extremely weak to fire, even to death. Do not start or seek out fires. Do not cast fire spells. Healing spells will damage you.
