The Blades
The Blades
Based out of: The Reach
Faction for: dragon slayers
Since the Akaviri Invasion during the First Era, the Blades swore to serve and protect the Emperors of Cyrodiil who were called Dragonborn. But at the close of the Third Era, with the last of the line of Uriel Septim dead, the Blades had no more Dragonborn rulers to serve. And so, they shut themselves into Cloud Ruler Temple. The role of Emperor's guards was put upon a new group, and the Blades waited patiently for a new Dragonborn and guarded the Empire. They were the first to see the growing threat of the Thalmor and the Aldmeri Dominion. As the Blades were not bound to Imperial policy and could move freely, the Thalmor distrusted and hated them.
Late in 4E 175, the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion signed the White-Gold Concordat, ending the Great War. One of the requirements of the Concordat was the disbandment of the Blades, thus ending the order's public face and forcing them into hiding.
After the Dragonborn rose again, the Blades thought their time had once more come. But after swiftly defeating Alduin and disappearing, the Blades are once more left leaderless and under threat by the Thalmor. They protect the Empire in secret once more by killing off the dragons that threaten the lives of Skyrim's citizens, and hope to prevent the dragons from crossing over borders into other lands.
